2014 RC is on its way. Is it a planet killer? Probably not even if it hit the Earth. If it were going fast enough and was dense enough, and hit the right part of the planet it would do a lot of damage, but fortunately this one is coming close but not close enough. It will be passing the Earth pretty darn close though, about 25,000 miles… just a few thousand miles from some of our space junk.
2014 will pass over New Zealand’s part of the sky, so we’ll have to be satisfied with solar eclipses in the northern hemisphere. Of course, we should feel totally safe as we know that no political leader (other than possibly Donald Trump) would tell us that we were about to be destroyed.
