Life on Enceladus – Fact, fiction or hope

Aloha – Life is not always what it is cracked up to be.  See those green cracks (75 miles long).  They represent escaping water vapor from Enceladus, one of Saturn’s moons.

In Greek mythology Enceladus is one of the Titans or offspring of Gaia and Uranus.  He is a villain in Rick Riordan’s The Lost Hero.  If you’re not familiar with the book you might at least be familiar with the Percy Jackson series.

It is almost ironic if you look at the translation of the Greek poet, Virgil’s piece on Enceladus:

Enceladus, his body lightning-scarred,lies prisoned under all, so runs the tale:o’er him gigantic Aetna breathes in firefrom crack and seam; and if he haply turn to change his wearied side, Trinacria’s isletrembles and moans, and thick fumes mantle heaven

Meanwhile this moon of Saturn follows suit with thick fumes of water rise from the mantle to heaven as green fire emits from crack and seam.

Prophetic or coincidence?
